255 - How would you go about scaring someone?
"Hi. I'm a Cylon."
That's pretty much all I need to do, frankly. Granted, we managed somehow to make a truce with the Cylons thanks to our acting President, but I don't think it has gotten rid of the blatant racism that is still on Galactica, and frak, the whole fleet.
I guess in a way, I can understand why President Roslin lied to me about Hera's death. If people had found out about her, who knows what would have happened? As it was, Helo told me that there was a D'Anna model that had tried to get in to see me and Hera after she'd been born, when D'Anna was still pretending to be some sort of correspondent trying to bring news about the men and women of our ship to the rest of the fleet.
Things have come a long way. I mean, back on Caprica, when Helo first found out, he shot me. Funny thing was, he didn't shoot me to kill me, he just injured me. Maybe it was because there was something there between us the whole time? I don't know. And then Kara. Kara tried to kill me, too, as soon as she saw me, but Helo stopped her. Right after that, it was Lee's turn to try to kill me, and then President Roslin did her famous "out the airlock" threat.
It was like everyone was taking a frakking number on who got to kill me first.
Somehow, though, most people got past it. I got married. I got Hera back. I even got my friends back, too, despite the strangeness of it all. Still, and I hate to speak ill of the dead, but Cally... Cally always hated me and always hated Cylons. I was wrong to threaten her now, I'll admit it. There. But she was wrong to say that all Cylons were evil, too, and especially wrong to say it in front of me and my husband.
I love my crew, my family, and my friends.
I'm just frakking tired of all the humans looking at me and seeing a toaster there who got special treatment (supposedly) instead of seeing a person who has busted her ass to be accepted as Athena. I don't want special treatment. I just want to be treated the same as everyone else.
