"Ouch."
I sighed as I looked up at my daughter with my husband's head in my lap. 'Ouch' was the nicest word to describe his injuries, or the way we all were being treated right now. Gaeta, frakking Gaeta who I'd trusted because he had always been friends with Helo and with Dee...
Dee is dead. Gaeta has lost his mind. He's betrayed us and I'm just another toaster to him, and I thought we were friends, I thought...
Damn it.
He thought he could win, though, and he was wrong. Not while the people (and the Cylons) who were loyal to the Old Man were still around. Lee came along and managed to get us all out of the brig. Caprica took Hera (why did I let her take Hera after the vision I had with President Roslin and then I shot Natalie, what was I thinking letting her take my daughter...?), Sam got shot and Kara ended up staying behind with him...
Lee took point and asked me to come with. I grabbed a weapon off one of the dead mutineers and in that moment, once I knew Karl and Hera were safe, once I had the weapon in my hands, my mission was clear. Save the Old Man. Stop Gaeta. Stop Zarek. Kill anyone who got in our way. Simple.
Simple except for the fact that the Cylons were the ones saving the day. Sort of ironic, but I wasn't going to point that out.
As we went through the halls of Galactica and gathered more and more people to our side, as I walked next to Lee and tried to push my anger down at everything, we managed to stop the frakking firing squad ready to kill the Old Man. God, if it had been my choice, I would have shot those frakkers right then and there instead of just pushing them to their knees and disarming them.
But we had more important things to do. Get to CIC. Save everyone.
And, we did it. I remember walking in, people screaming everywhere all at once, and then we had Gaeta and Zarek. I saw the looks in their eyes as they looked back the one of the toasters who had stopped them. They knew they were dead. Fine by me.
They thought they had gotten the best out of all of us, but we won in the end.
I only wish I'd been allowed to watch them die.

Festering anger and resentment fueled the insurrection in the first place and Zarek knew exactly how to take advantage of that. Don't think that his message has died with him. He'd always wanted to be a martyr to his cause.
Try to find the forgiveness Gaeta ran out of.
Otherwise, the same thing will happen again.

But... God, right now? Right now I just am glad they're both gone and can't hurt the people I care about, hurt me, hurt the Old Man... just... gone.
Forgive me, Madame President, if I'm not as forgiving as you.

I'm not saying bury it. That's what most of the mutineers spent the past four years doing. Have it out and deal with it, or it just comes back.
You have to be able to work with anyone who's permitted to return to their duties after this.
How's your husband?

like Sam, but we'll have to wait until Friday to find out more about him.
