We do not have friends. Our models function as a unit. The Three model was defective and after a vote between the other Cylon models, it was decided to box the entire line. Several units seem to have faulty programming, though.
The Sixes, for example, should be perfect in their ability to command. However, after the genocide of the human race, one of the models was downloaded on Caprica and praised as a hero of the Cylons. She was referred to as Caprica Six. She was given a name. We even had a model Eight who referred to herself as “Sharon”.
We have taken care of that, however. The one called “Caprica” is now onboard Galactica, while the one who called herself “Sharon” no longer refers to herself as such. The Eights are in unison once more except for the traitor who married a human and kidnapped the shape of things to come.
Friendships do not last. We saw this occur when the faulty Caprica and the Sharon combined to form the so-called “revolution” where Cylons and humans would live together in harmony as God willed it. They were wrong. We, voting as a unit, were right. The Eight known as “Sharon” saw the logic in this and has come home to us as we continue our search for Earth.
Any Cylon that forms a bond is doomed. We saw this occur with Three and Gaius Baltar at the Eye of Jupiter, with the two Eights who fell in love, with the Six who betrayed her race and killed two Cylons. Human contact means human emotions.
[Locked from the Five, Cavil, Simon, & Leoben models]
We envy the male models at times, though, because it seems that God’s plan has allowed them to proceed without the taint of human feelings. It has allowed them the focus that we, as a unit, do not have at times.

We will not allow a bond with humans to happen again, for to do so would be to jeopardize the whole of the Cylon race.
