Look at me and tell me who I am, why I am, what I am...

Once, there was a young girl named Sharon Valerii who fell in love with a man she shouldn't have fallen in love with, discovered she was a Cylon, and shot her Commanding Officer in an attempt to kill him. By accident, of course, but nonetheless, she shot him and everyone hated her for it. She begged and pleaded, trying to get her love back into her life all while she had no clue what her own life meant anymore considering it was filled with Cylon lies.

She was killed, only to resurrect into an exact duplicate of her own body, surrounded by other "model Eights". She screamed, crying for the child she had wanted to have with Chief Tyrol, the life she had planned once, and the man -- Commander William Adama -- that had been her father-figure.

Once, there was a young Cylon without a name, who stole the life of Sharon Valerii and lied willingly to the man who was in love with the girl. She slept with him in an attempt to form a human-Cylon hybrid, only to realize that she was in love with the man, Helo, himself. She was thrown into the brig, the same one that Valerii had been trapped in, only this time the Cylon chose the name "Sharon" for herself as she held on desperately to her child. The humans did not consider her family, and she hated them back once they told her that her daughter had died.

She was killed, only to resurrect into an exact duplicate of her own body, surrounded by other "model Eights" including the one whose life she had stolen. She screamed, crying for the child she had given birth to, the stolen life that was back on board Galactica, and the man -- Admiral William Adama -- who was now her father-figure.

It all depends on who is the victim and who is the villain in the story.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Sharon and a Cylon without a past. And in truth, despite their different endings, neither of them found redemption.

Boomer turned around, hand on one hip as she did her best to look as innocent as possible. News? News could mean anything, but if anyone found out about how she was frakking the Chief, they'd both get thrown into hack. "Nope, not a thing, Helo." That sounded natural to her. Hopefully to her ECO, too. "What's up?"

Helo's eyebrows waggled a bit as he pulled his lollipop out of his mouth with a large "popping" sound and licked his lips. "They say the Old Man's son is going to lead the flyby for the decommissioning."

Her eyes got huge. "Apollo? You mean the Apollo?" Boomer chewed on her lower lip. "I've heard all about him. He's famous... he graduated third in his class..."

Helo didn't seem to notice how quiet Boomer had gotten, only that she was suddenly interested in what he was saying. "Scuttlebutt has it that he's even going to be the one to fly the restored Mark II that's down in the hangar deck."

There was gagging and coughing. Sticky film that covered my body and I was completely naked. It felt like I was drowning, only it wasn't in any pool of water I'd ever been in my entire life. I knew, though, that I had to breathe at some point, but I wasn't swimming.

Why wasn't I swimming, and yet it felt like drowning?

I moved my limbs, my head finally breaking surface, and I gasped for air. All around me, there was darkness, and I realized at last that I was trapped. Well, not trapped, exactly, but confined to something. What was it? Where was I? It was too confusing, and I couldn't remember anything before this moment.

Deep breaths. Slow.

What?

Welcome home, Sister.

Who?

We love you, Sharon.

Sharon "Boomer" Valerii

Blood, blood everywhere, and all she could think was, "I'm dying. I'm dying. I'm dying and Galen won't know that I love him, and so I have to tell him, I have to tell him…"

She did, whispering the words to him until the bullet that was inside her, the bullet that was killing her (that no one cared about, maybe not even Galen?) finally did its job and the last drop of blood that could pour out of her wound did. She was done, complete, over, a Cylon no more, and she could meet the gods and ask for their forgiveness for shooting Commander Adama. They could be merciful, surely.

Strange thoughts to have towards the end, but then Sharon realized it wasn't the end after all as she took one large gasping breath and she was naked in a pool of something, something that was sticking to her body and felt like oil but was blue with light coming from somewhere. Disoriented, she looked around, trying to find the gods she'd been hoping to see and instead she heard words.

"Slow, deep breaths. You're doing great."

Do Cylons have feelings? They must, she realized, because every day, she remembered dying and waking up again to see herself talking to her. And every day, remembering that, Sharon died a little bit more inside.

It's going to sound morbid, but I would have wanted to be there when Cally shot Boomer.

Now, hear me out on this. I can pull so many memories from Boomer already, so when there are things like the feelings she had for Chief, the first time that she I met Kara, things like that? They're there. I remember and feel them all, so it's no use trying to go back to those times. What more would I learn from it?

Even when she shot Admiral Adama, I just… I can't. I can't go back to that. I know in my head and my heart that it wasn't me, but if I had been there, would I have stopped it? Could I have stopped it? I know who I am, and I have no programming that I know of. I think it would just break my heart to watch it.

But on Kobol, when I was still a prisoner leading everyone through the woods, I remember that moment when I proved myself to Admiral Adama. I handed the weapon I had been given over to him without any hesitation. I'd asked Helo to trust me, and he did – also without hesitation. But that moment would not have happened if I hadn't been told what had happened to Boomer onboard Galactica. If I hadn't been told how they had shot her, how Cally had been sent to sit in hack for "discharging a firearm" instead of murder (as it should have been), well…

Cally and I have our differences. I doubt there's anyone who would disagree about that. Threats, tears, anger. She hates the Cylons and for that reason alone, she hates me.

For killing Boomer, despite my own feelings to her, I hate her right back.

But I would want to be there, in that line of humans yelling at her and throwing objects, asking for her death. I would want to pull Cally away so that Boomer wouldn't download and eventually try and kill Hera while I was risking everything to save my daughter.

I suppose the real reason is that I would want to be there so that maybe, just maybe, I could give Boomer a chance at a life. At the one she thought that she already had.
