Once upon a time, Sharon Valerii was just a kid who had her parents die in a tragic mining accident. She knew their names – Abraham and Katherine – she knew she had one sibling, and that she was born on Troy as a daughter from a family of Aurelons. Her parents were there at her graduation when she got her wings, and she remembered how it felt to lose them only to gain a family again once again when she joined the battlestar Galactica as lieutenant, junior grade. She got a callsign --"Boomer" – in addition to her own Raptor. She got a lover, Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol, although they had to keep their affair secret. She got a good friend in her ECO, Karl "Helo" Agathon. And she got a big sister in "Starbuck" with everyone's favorite father, the Old Man. Sure, he wasn't her father, but she loved him and her new family, all of them. She was an orphan, after all, and to actually gain a family again?
But everyone knows that those sorts of stories are only fairytales, and there's no such thing as "happily ever afters", which was why it shouldn't have come to any surprise when Sharon found out that she was, in fact, a Cylon sleeper agent sent to infiltrate and destroy the remaining humans onboard Galactica. The human part of her fought against it, naturally, for as long as possible, but it wasn't enough.
She was a Cylon spy who sabotaged Galactica's water supply, aided another Cylon to gain access to a munitions store to make a bomb, and critically shot Commander Bill Adama in the chest. Her life was a lie. Her family was a lie.
