She could remember looking at her daughter and noticing how tiny she was.

It had been such a long, hard road to get there, and Sharon had never expected to fall in love, forget her mission, betray her race, and become the only Cylon to ever be able to conceive a half-human, half-Cylon child. Normally, it would be a cause for celebration, but not for her.

She could survive the rape. She could survive the endless probings to extract blood from her unborn child in order to save the life of a woman who wanted her dead. She could survive the looks from the humans as they passed by her cell even after she had risked everything to save the lives of everyone when the Cylons attacked.

Then, Hera died. Tiny, innocent Hera. She pushed aside Helo, the only one who believed in her, because the anguish consumed her. Who could understand the death of a child? Or, a better question – who would bother to understand the death of a child from a Cylon?

Helo would. Helo did. You betrayed him in order to remain alone in your anguish. He lost a child, too. You never bothered to talk to him about it, did you? He suffered because he loved you. You're selfish, Sharon. Selfish for thinking that you were the only one who mourned Hera's death.

She touched the glass partition and remembered the blood everywhere when Hera came too soon. Doc Cottle had explained everything to her, and yet it still didn't explain her sudden death. He had murdered her, and Sharon knew then there was no point in living anymore except for one reason.

Betray the humans and allow Brother Cavil onboard Galactica.

Sharon sat on the cot that would become her home for a year while the humans settled on New Caprica, getting married, building homes, having babies…

Oh God, Hera was dead. Murdered. Her ashes were scattered to the stars and Sharon had not even been allowed to be there to witness it, so she had said a few prayers to her God, the one that the humans did not believe in. Would He watch over her daughter? Would He forsake her because she was half-human?

Sharon was alone in her suffering and practically relished it. No one noticed a Cylon alone in its sorrow and tears.

She closed her eyes to the world and wondered why she'd bothered to name her dead daughter after one of the humans' gods…
