276 - Siblings

She was walking through the Colony at first, looking for her twin. She didn't know it at the time, because her daughter was the only thing on her mind, but Sharon was seeking Sharon.

Once she found her, holding Hera, she waited until her daughter was safe in the arms of Helo.

Then she shot and killed the woman who had been haunting her, haunting her entire life.

Boomer was dead, the rook pilot, the Cylon who didn't know who she was. Athena was alive, the traitor to her race, the Cylon who loved a human. In her mind, that was all that was important. If you talked to Athena later, she might have told you a different story about how she felt. She might not have, of course, because she never had the chance.

Helo carried Hera, Sharon moved forward. A shot rang out, and in Sharon's mind, her husband's safety was all she thought of until Hera ran off. Boomer, the other Sharon, the same model, the broken Eight... she was gone.

So was Hera.

So was Helo.

Bleeding out, he begged her to save their daughter, and the Opera House vision returned, running, always running, trying to find and save Hera. It was important to save Hera, and even Laura Roslin knew this to be true. The two females ran, shouting the little girl's name -- the little girl who had been saved by a different Sharon.

Running to the Opera House and the light.

Sharon never knew that her husband died. Sharon never knew that Laura would be dead in days. Sharon only knew that Boomer was dead and her daughter was in danger until Caprica stood there, scooping her up in her arms with Gaius Baltar alongside her, as she walked into the CIC of Galactica.

The door shut, and Sharon never knew that Caprica and Gaius raised her daughter as theirs on the new planet that Kara Thrace would find for them, another puzzle piece of the Opera House vision falling into place. Six's child with Gaius was Hera all along...

Sharon never knew any of this -- only that she was dead, the same as Boomer.

Perhaps they weren't so different after all.
