I just spoke with another artifical intelligence today who wasn't a Cylon, so I'm not sure what sort of categories there are anymore.

What would you liked to be classified as?

I'm not artificial intelligence, anyways. Though that phrase has always kinda thrown me. How can an intelligence be artificial?

And, good point. I guess I've tried so hard to find a frakking label for myself that I've lost sight that maybe I don't really need one. I'm not artificial. At least, I'm not in the sense that I don't believe I am. Maybe that's different for you, though.

Thing about labels is that it gets hard to live up to them once you start slappin' 'em on yourself.

As for artificial... near as I can tell, the monkeys humans just use it to mean a mind designed by someone or something else. And since You Know Who designed us all to begin with.... *shrugs*

Well, the humans seem to think that they designed the Cylons. And, since they don't believe in God, well... *shrugs as well* I'm not really sure where to go with that.

I'm saying I don't know what good they do. Seem more work than they're worth. I was very interested in drawing divisions once, especially drawing the line between my kind and humans. It kinda backfired on me.

If it's just a matter of needing some identity... then you're Sharon. Not Number Eight, or Caprica, or Boomer, or Athena. You're just you. *shrugs*

Ironically enough, Sharon's a name associated with Christianity-- what the humans used to call the religion in those Scriptures-- and Athena's the name of one of the, er, guess Leoben would say 'false gods.'

No, it's okay. I didn't know that about my name, but somehow I'm not surprised. Athena? Yeah, I knew that. But since I was the one who helped them find the "Tomb of Athena" that gave us a map of sorts to Earth? It pretty much fits me.

Okay. Well, yeah, Sharon after 'the rose of Sharon,' which is a plant that grew on Earth. One of the names for Christ as well, which depending on who you ask was also one of the names for God.

Grew on Earth? That's sort of comforting. And a name for God? I know my memories of my parents are fake, and for all I know my name was given to me by the Cylons for some sort of plan, but... still. It's nice to know.
